Second Half
The second half is where all the mistakes made in the first half are corrected. The game is usually won in the second half, and in this course the second half is where you improve on the skills introduced in the first half.
In this example is the Unit Four paper which is about challenging constructs and is the first assignment about integrating sources. The previous assignment during the Critical Thinking Response, my use of integrating sources was not up to par. In this assignment, I executed the use of paraphrasing and quoting very well. This shows my improvement on this subject over this course. I know in my future courses, this will come in handy as a tool to use to make the audience understand my purpose.
These two examples show the use of genre in writing and how I have improved on my skill from first assighnment till the final assignment. The first example is the Creative Writing Response Four and the second example is the Critical Thinking Response: Sell This Pencil. In the first CRW it is a vague example of an email, you can kinda tell it is an email, but not entirely sure. The Critical Thinking Response shows a much more detailed genre of a Craigslist ad. It is something that is available on the website under the sell section. This skill of using genre accurately can help in future classes when I need to mold different types of essays.
This is my Unit Five paper where it illustrates my improvements in using purpose, audience and genre. For this paper, we had to pick a certain genre of writing and then use that to show the audience the purpose of writing the paper. My genre in this paper was a letter directed to my middle school English department highlighting how the use of "you" should be included in certain types of writing. Learning the technique of picking your audience first and writing to them will really help me in the future with persuasive essays.
